EMAT Technology

EMA-3T uses EMAT technology for thickness measurements. This method allows significant advantages over standard piezoelectric thickness gauges for the inspection process:
  • No paint removal required (non-contact up to 4 mm)
  • No surface preparation
  • No couplant required
  • Measures through unbonded paint
  • Sensor not required to be perpendicular to test material
  • Use in corroded areas
  • High temperature applications

Asset Identification

EMA-3T uses dual asset identification technologies (RFID and Barcode readers) integrated directly into the device. This functionality eliminates the possibility of human-error when recording asset references and allows automatic selection of the asset inspection workflow.

Inspection Workflows

EMA-3T interface includes standard inspection functions as A-scan, B-scan and 3 standard inspection workflows: Line, Matrix and Pipe. It can be customized to include customer specific workflows.

Depend on routine operation user can pre-set inspection parameters and all recorded data will be saved in structured order.

When using the asset identification functionality (RFID or Barcode), once assets are scanned and identified, the inspection workflow for that asset is initialized (order of inspection, amounts of points, min thickness, etc.).

Connectivity

Recoded data can be transmitted to/from EMA-3T by several options: USB cable, Bluetooth or WiFi. In the case of wireless connection, data between EMA-3T and database can be transmitted simultaneously during inspection without user intervention.

The USB cable does not limit its capability. The 16GB internal memory allows information to be downloaded from the database to the device, update during inspection and synchronize to the database once connected via the computer.

Ergonomic Design

During design phase of EMA-3T we analyzed different models of UT devices from ergonomic standpoint and targeted to produce a device that would be practical and comfortable for the end user to operate.

The result was a design which has a slim handle to allow users to operate with just one hand, inclined display to reduce strain on the wrist during long working hours, and a high resolution display for provide clear visibility even in direct sunlight.
